OFG has  completed 8 major offshore campaigns of data acquisition doing commercial Submarine Massive Sulfide (SMS) and Gas Hydrate exploration since 2007.  In 2013 OFG conducted a large ROV based precision bathymetric survey behind the giant Bennett Dam for BC Hydro.

Wave Mercury: Manus Basin, PNG

Client: Nautilus Minerals, Teck Cominco.
Project data delivered:  OFG EM Mk1 mapping and precision bathymetry  of Solwara 1 deposit.  
ROV: Perry Slingsby T200. 

This was the first commercial project using EM to map SMS deposits ever.


Nor Sky: Manus Basin, PNG; Tonga

Project data delivered: OFG-EM Mark 2 data  for deposit characterization and precision bathymetric and magnetic exploration data in the Manus Basin PNG and in Tonga waters.

Fugro Solstice: Manus Basin, PNG

Client: Nautilus Minerals.  
Project data delivered: OFG-EM Mark 3 data and precision bathymetric and magnetic data for deposit mapping and exploration.

Shin Sei Maru: offshore Japan

Client: Fukada Marine.
Project data delivered: OFG-EM Mark 3 data, precision bathymetric , magnetic, sidescan sonar and Sub Bottom Profiling data for SMS deposit mapping.
ROV: ISE Hysub 150. 

The data was acquired over the Izena and Bayonnaise SMS deposits for mining engineering studies being conducted by JOGMEC.


Offshore SMS project: South Pacific

Client: Private Company
Project data delivered: OFG EM survey completed over an SMS deposit field. In addition to the EM data magnetic data was acquired concurrently. When processed and inverted this indicated regions of magnetic susceptibility lows mapping hydrothermal zones of alteration around the feeder systems of the mineralization.
ROV: 3000m capable work class ROV supplied by client.


Shin Kai Maru: offshore Japan

Client: Fukada Salvage and Marine Works.
Project data delivered: AUV operations support — Sidescan and Multibeam Sonar, OFG Plume hunter water chemistry suite and magnetometer data and Self Potential data.
The data was acquired over the Okinawa trough for a Japanese Client.

AUV: Deep 1 Explorer 3000m capable AUV.

Client: Fukada Salvage and Marine Works.
Project data delivered: AUV operations support - Sidescan and Multibeam Sonar,  OFG Plume hunter water chemistry suite and magnetometer data.
The data was acquired as part of a program of Gas Hydrate exploration for a Japanese client.

Shin Kai Maru: offshore Japan

Client: Fukada Salvage and Marine Works.
Project data delivered: AUV operations support - Sidescan and Multibeam Sonar,  OFG Plume hunter water chemistry suite and magnetometer data and Self Potential data.
The data was acquired over the Okinawa trough as part of an SMS explorations program for a Japanese client.

Bennett Dam precision Bathymetry project: Northern British Columbia, Canada

Client: BC Hydro
Project data delivered: Precision bathymetric mapping.  A very high quality bathymetric map of the Bennett Dam was produced for BC Hydro using an ROV based multibeam system.  Data was located within an absolute position accuracy of 60cm in horizontal position and 6 cm in vertical accuracy.  10cm pixel multibeam imagery was produced for the entire upstream dam face. 
Equipment: R2sonic Multibeam, IXBlue GAPS, Octans, DVL, Parascientific Depth Sensor, Imagenex Yellowfin Sidescan, SVP.
ROV: OFG's 300m depth capable DHD +2 Phantom ROV


Shin Nichi Maru: Offshore Japan

Client: National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan
Project data delivered: A high resolution CSEM survey of near surface gas hydrates. The survey comprises over 500 line kilometers of high resolution data collected using the Fukada vessel Shin Nichi Maru. Water depths were from 400 to 1100 meters. A 3D inversion of the EM data for an area of interest has been completed.  Fukada Salvage and Marine Works acted as prime contractor.
Equipment:  Scripps Institution of Oceanography Vulcan system.
